NEW CADETS: Basic Training Program

CADET BASIC TRAINING PROGRAM

This page is intended for our new cadets going through the Cadet Basic Training (CBT) Program and to Achievement 1.

Below you will find the ideal CBT 8-week schedule for promotion to Cadet Airman. Remember that if you need help with anything, you are to contact the Tango Flight Sergeant first, then the Flight Commander.

WEEK 1 HOMEWORK:

  • CBT Overview
  • Customs and Courtesies – What are they?
  • Practice drill at home for at least 10 minutes per day
  • Start gathering your uniform items
  • Begin exercising daily so you can pass your PT Test
  • Reading Assignments:
    • Read Chapter 1 in Learn to Lead (Your Leadership Textbook)

WEEK 2 HOMEWORK:

  • Chain of Command/ Grade Insignia
  • Study Wear of the CAP Uniform
  • Practice drill at home for at least 10 minutes per day
  • Continue gathering your uniform items and order all accessories online (www.vanguardmil.com)
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test
  • Reading Assignments:
    • Re-read Chapter 1 in “Learn to Lead” (Your Leadership Textbook)
    • Chain of Command, Grade Insignia, CAP Uniforms, CAP’s Missions

WEEK 3 HOMEWORK:

  • Chain of Command
  • Memory Work
  • Organization of CAP
  • Practice drill at home for at least 10 minutes per day
  • Continue gathering your uniform items and order all accessories online (www.vanguardmil.com)
  • Study the procedures for reporting to an officer indoors
  • Study the procedures for requesting permission to fall into a flight
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test
  • Reading Assignments:
    • Re-read Chapter 1 in “Learn to Lead” (Your Leadership Textbook), and take notes this time
    • Memory Work, Organization of CAP, CAP-USAF Relationship, CAP History, Cadet Protection Policy

WEEK 4 HOMEWORK:

  • Chain of Command
  • Memory Work
  • Organization of CAP
  • Study your Cadet Oath and Cadet Honor Code for the memory work quiz next week
  • Take the Learn to Lead Practice test found in your binder
  • Practice drill at home for at least 10 minutes per day
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test
  • Reading Assignments: Core Values, Cadet Physical Fitness Test, Professional Correspondence

WEEK 5 HOMEWORK:

  • What is Followership?
  • Memory Work: Cadet Oath & Cadet Honor Code
  • Study for your Leadership Chapter 1 test
  • Practice drill for 15 minutes a day this week so you are prepared for your drill test
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test
  • Reading Assignments: Followership, The Cadet Super Chart (including attached diagram), CAPF 50-1 Attachment

WEEK 6  HOMEWORK:

  • Leadership Chapter 1 Exam
  • Memory Work (practice reciting the Cadet Oath, Honor Code)
  • Uniform review & Put Together
  • Determine what you need in order to graduate and email the list to your Flight Sergeant to confirm and get help if needed
  • Practice drill for 15 minutes a day this week so you are prepared for your drill test
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test

WEEK 7 HOMEWORK:

  • Practice customs and courtesies (reporting in to a flight, reporting in to an officer, greeting officers, NCOs, senior members, etc.)
  • Make up any necessary requirements in order to promote next week and go over details with your Flight Sergeant
  • Prepare for Promotion Review Board (PRB) by ironing your uniform, polishing your boots/shoes, and getting a haircut if necessary.
  • Practice drill for 15 minutes a day this week so you are prepared for your drill test
  • Continue exercising daily to prepare for your PT Test

 

**This information is to be used as a guide and not every cadet will meet the weekly requirements and promote within an 8 week period.
